WITH DEDICATION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Since 1999, when we first began, we have been consistently committed to implementing “Fair Business”, the ethical and human-centered code of conducting business activities. We recognize that the activities of every company—including ours—have impacts that go far beyond financial performance. That is why we design and implement actions and initiatives that reduce our energy and environmental footprint, strengthen the circular economy, and support local communities and social solidarity. In this way, we build relationships of trust with people.

We respect and reward those who work across the coffee value chain: farmers, baristas and distributors, franchisees, employees, and the end consumer.

All of us at Coffee Island perceive Sustainable Development as an integral part of our identity, mission, and corporate philosophy. Building on the principle of Direct Trade (contract farming)—the creation of mutual and permanently beneficial relationships with producers at some of the best coffee farms in the world—we contribute to the economic, environmental, and social sustainability of the regions from which we source our coffee.

In 2021, we completed our first Materiality Assessment. This process involved 3,000 of our stakeholders, including company employees, business partners, suppliers, public authorities’ representatives, media representatives, and consumers. The stakeholders identified the material issues that impact Coffee Island across economic, social, and environmental aspects, which now form the basis for all our actions. These material topics are structured into 3 pillars: People, Environment, Product.

Guided by the global Sustainable Development Goals and international best practices, we are committed to creating stories and, through our actions, building our social contribution, our care for the environment, and our responsibility towards our product.

Based on our Sustainable Development Strategy plan, we present our first ESG Report for the years 2022 and 2023:

With the core pillars of People, Environment, and Product, we continue to work and promote, from our side, everything that makes the world a better place.
